STEVE WYNN Of course, there's another element shared in this retail makeup, a feel- ing that extends beyond the stores and into every other aspect of what Wynn has crafted for his award-winning resorts. It's evident when you walk through Wynn's Tower Suites Lobby, passing an Andy Warhol print of Greta Garbo as Mata Hari; in a pair of ornate sculptures that resemble 18th-century chandelier earrings on steroids, by Australian artist Timothy Horn, in the recently redesigned baccarat rooms just off the Wynn Casino; or when you catch a glimpse of the oversized bronzed sculptures by the late Stephan Weiss that grace two Wynn entrances. You may not stop and ponder any of these individual moments as you might in a museum, but it's undeniable that each contributes to an overall sensibility, a statement of luxe sophistication that will never veer into theme or gimmick. "Steve has insisted that our style not be about trend, but instead be timeless," explains Roger Thomas, executive vice president of Wynn Design & Development, though he is quick to add that such a mandate is paired with a forward-thinking view that's always been at the heart of the Wynn philosophy. Timeless, in the world of Steve Wynn, will never mean classic, fussy, or dated. "An evolution of style happened when Steve formed Wynn Resorts," Thomas recalls. "He was telling me what our new resorts would be like, and he said, 'I want them to be something "Steve has insisted that our style not be about trend, but be timeless." —roger thomas, wynn design & development Cartier at Wynn's south entrance The newly designed baccarat rooms are meant to evoke "James Bond at the Hotel de Paris in Monaco." 24 WYNN
