A mix of contemporary and "once upon a time" romance forms the look of the newly opened Mizumi. O ne question arises often when Steve Wynn is brain- storming with his team on a new project, no matter whether the focus in that particular moment is the design of a new restaurant, the decision to add a designer label to his resorts' decidedly sophisticated retail mix, or perhaps to imbue his breathtaking aquatic spectacle, Le Rêve: The Dream, with just a touch more wow factor. And that question, to handle details deemed big-picture or minor, is a simple one: "Who's the best?" Wynn doesn't mince words on any subject, but especially when the conversation is rooted in the crafting of any aspect of his resorts' expe- riences, he's resolute in going straight to the pinnacle solution—that is, the absolute finest person or ingredient to suit the project at hand, a philosophy that's been true from the moment Wynn began planning the resort that ultimately would bear his name. The puppets for his Lake of Dreams multimedia show? Get Michael Curry, creator of the fanciful ani- mals seen in The Lion King. The shoe label to make every woman swoon? Get Manolo Blahnik on the phone. WYNN 21
