style note: "I've long been a student of Japanese textiles and love kimonos and obi sashes in particular," explains Thomas. "The most dramatic part of a kimono is an obi; on a geisha, the kimono is often very subtle and lyrical, and then the obi forms a bit of dramatic contrast and forms the architecture of the look. I also happened to come across four obis in really brilliant colors, and all at once they inspired me to think of them as a solution of one wall, forming vertical stripes. I've always admired them for their graphic design and their dramatic, theatrical coloring, so they're very appropriate for Mizumi." 100 WYNN
