BEAUTY Turn back the clock with plant-infused facials, detoxifying massages, and the latest in skin-plumping essential oils. BY JENNIFER BLOSSOM GET YOUR GLOW BACK W 48 WYNN hen people step inside the Spa at Encore , they often tell executive director Ella Stimpson: "It's like I've fallen into I Dream of Jeannie's bottle." The opulent, jaw-dropping design by Todd-Avery Lenahan lends the sense that everything is beautiful and anything is pos- sible. Blink three times and make your wish! The bulk of the magic happens in the treatment rooms. For instance: the Organic Gardens Facial ($280 for 80 minutes; $180 for 50 minutes). "You know how sometimes you get poked during facials, you feel like you've been beat up and have to go and put on makeup right away?" says Stimpson. "This one leaves everyone with a really beautiful glow." Éminence Organic, the leader in organic skincare for spas and salons, makes each and every product used in this treatment, which has all the elements of a traditional European facial. "The only things you're missing are artificial ingredients and preservatives," says Stimpson. The facial begins with an essential oil steam inhalation and is followed by cleansing, toning, and exfoliation with products that might double as refreshing cocktails. For instance, you might have a coconut milk cleanser, mimosa Champagne toner, and strawberry rhubarb exfoliator. Extractions are soothed with a healing masque—arnica, melon, or açai, depending on your skin type. The facial winds down with a massage using Éminence's practically edible Pear and Green Apple Massage Soufflé cream. Would you like the room to have a cooling blue glow while you are pampered? Or maybe an enveloping rose? Encore's treatment rooms also offer therapeutic light mirrors, which can project any color of the rainbow you desire. Ready for Encore's next magic trick? The relaxing, therapeutic, soft feather mattress of body care: the Aromatherapy Massage ($275 for 80 minutes; $185 for 50 minutes). "A lot of spas will do a traditional Swedish massage and throw in a couple of essential oils and call that aromatherapy," says Stimpson. But traditionally, "the focus is really on the spine, so you can treat from the source." Instead of deep-tissue massage, the therapist will use light to medium pres- sure, a technique that encourages detoxification of the lymphatic system. The goal is total relaxation. (If you want the intensity of an elbow digging into your shoulder blade, you might prefer the Swedish style.) Depending on your skin (and how much you indulged the night before) the thera- pist will choose among five oil blends by Aromatherapy Associates: PHOTOGRAPHY BY RUSSELL MACMASTERS (SPA); JACQUELYNN ALLEN (ÉMINENCE ORGANIC)
