S ometimes a restaurant achieves stature from having a stunning design, and other times, through the skill of its chef. But when both ele- ments are combined, there is the potential for greatness. Such is the case at Botero at Encore, where the works of renowned Colombian sculp- tor Fernando Botero and chef Mark LoRusso have created a near-perfect synergy. Walking from the main Wynn casino floor to the Encore Esplanade, one passes the nightclub XS, soon to arrive outside Botero. The revolving door has been removed, opening the front space to a full view of the interior, crowned by a huge Botero sculpture in the center of the dining area. As you enter, you'll notice a gallery of colorful paintings dubbed "The Circus Series" from the artist, and you'll step over a floral mosaic floor done in brown, green, white, orange, red, purple, and blue. The Botero sculpture, titled Seated Lady, enjoys a regal setting, a centerpiece surrounded by six Doric columns upholstered in white leather. The plush armchairs in the dining area are swathed in white leather as well. Still more luxury comes from the kitchen, where LoRusso is nothing if not versatile.
