BEAUTY PREP AND REPEAT N avigating the holiday social circuit, especially a highstakes night out, requires unwavering discipline and the help of a few upscale beauty services. Thankfully the Salon at Encore has the latter covered, with all the pampering and beauty preparation a girl can handle for an unforgettably chic night out. "You have to start with hair," says Ella Stimpson, executive director of spa and salon operations for Wynn and Encore Las Vegas. An appointment always begins with a consultation to discuss the essentials: What are you wearing, and what kind of look do you want? "Rather than a traditional updo, the trend we're seeing this season is a sweeping side ponytail," says Stimpson. "We're getting numerous requests for hair that is more polished, subtle, and sophisticated." To achieve the sleek side ponytail, stylists use a bionic curling iron to curl the hair backward and forward for elaborate depth. Hair is then braided into a side 42 WYNN 042-044_W_FOB_Beauty_Winter13.indd 42 ponytail and gently brushed for a soft, deconstructed sidesweep. To truly turn heads this holiday season, Stimpson recommends a dramatic makeup look of seasonally appropriate deep-red lips paired with brown shadows and liner for the eye. "One thing everyone in Vegas is doing right now is faux eyelashes. We're using them in almost all of our appointments," notes Stimpson. Encore boasts several varieties from the va-va-voom set encrusted with crystals to the natural strip with winged-out tips to achieve whichever classic or glam look the evening calls for. "But what truly separates you from the woman who did her own makeup in her room is our airbrush foundation," Stimpson says. "Our gifted artists can actually chisel your cheekbones and give you definition and highlights while creating an overall flawless foundation." Sounds like the perfect start to a posh night out.
