above: The entrance to Wynn's Rolex boutique. here: On display at the Rolex Experience, this 1922 Submarine was the brand's first attempt at creating a waterproof wristwatch; the design included a double case, with the outer case enclosing the winding crown for its protection. More windows lay ahead, with watches becoming increasingly more dazzling— including a $280,000 piece with a mother-of-pearl face, the most expensive in the inventory. 62 The Rolex Boutique expansion and redesign certainly enhances timepiece shopping, as well as overall browsing at Wynn's Esplanade. "At Wynn, when we're remodeling or looking to open another store, we examine how it will not only enhance the property but will also draw customers," says Woodrow. For instance, Wynn added thoughtful amenities such as in-store watch-repair service. "Clients are able to have their timepieces cleaned, refurbished, and sized on-site," she says. Rolex brought the layout concept to the table, with the design team at Wynn ensuring it merged well with the existing spaces. "It was designed outside of our studio, but we directed it," explains Thomas. "Karina Ashworth in Wynn Design and Development, who's directed the interiors for Wynn for 30 years now, oversaw the design, layout, material selection, lighting, and construction." A guest traversing Wynn Esplanade from the casino begins to discern what's in store before reaching the boutique, with a Rolex clock fastened high on the left side hallway before Wynn & Company Watches, heralding what's ahead. As the hall curves right, another Rolex clock comes into view on the opposite side of the hallway. The first display window embedded in the wall boasts a selection of handsome Professional pieces in front of a green translucent background emblazoned with Rolex's trademark crown. More windows lay ahead, with watches becoming increasingly more dazzling—including a $280,000 piece with a mother-of-pearl face, the most expensive in the inventory—as the brightly lit boutique itself comes into view behind the merchandise. "We have a very good partnership with Rolex," says Woodrow. "We partner very closely to make sure we represent within the windows what Rolex's vision is as well." A long display case greets the customer upon entering the boutique. Rolex's finest watches are carefully displayed beneath the glass, with some lined up in curving, aesthetically pleasing rows. Jubilee bracelets on 26mm ladies' watches populate the far right of the case, giving way to larger men's pieces with Oyster bracelets, Professional lines, and the artistically designed Cellini collection to the left.
