WYNN EXPERIENCE 2 1 Y ou might traverse Wynn and Encore every day without realizing that anecdotes abound regarding the art, or simply the artful moments, that resides throughout both resorts, from the origins of the golden Daphne Tree at the Encore Lobby Bar and Café (she's based on the character in Greek mythology) to the tale of how Fernando Botero's massive, 2,755-pound Seated Woman sculpture was installed at the restaurant that bears his name (she was moved in via a series of rollers on elevated platforms, then placed on blocks of ice, which melted as her exact position was negotiated). Knowing such details, though, adds a new layer to the experience and perhaps compels you to stop for a moment to consider it with new eyes. That oddly shaped striped painting next to the Encore Concierge Desk, for example: Titled Joe Joe, it's the brainchild of Las Vegas–based Tim Bavington, a British-born painter who specializes in works of graphic stripes in which each stripe represents a musical note. Upon looking at Joe Joe, you might not easily discern that Bavington based it on "Get Back" by the Beatles—but doesn't learning such a tidbit make its discovery all the more fun? ■ 3 4 1.
