The fall line also includes a three-wheeled electric motorcycle, a powerful two-wheeled motorcycle that can go 65 mph, and even UTVs and ATVs that boast a unique camouflaged pattern for hunters. " We fi nd people who have been out of work to be some of the best employees. " Xtreme Green's products, which cost between $9,000 and $20,000, are competitively priced compared with combustible-engine vehicles. What's more, Georgiou says that owners often recoup the cost of an Xtreme Green vehicle within several years, thanks to zero fuel bills cou- pled with low-maintenance charges. "People have this illusion that just because it's electric, it's weak and wimpy, but nothing could be further from the truth," he says. "These vehicles have more power and torque within their working range than an internal combustion engine." Georgiou's commitment to the community is just as strong. "We find people who have been out of work to be some of the best employees," he says. "They're apprecia- tive that they're back to work." Though the company currently employs only about 25 people, Georgiou hopes to hire more than 100 workers over the next few years. His goals are not without muscle: The company was recently awarded about $100,000 in tax abatements and deferrals from the Nevada Commission on Economic Development and currently boasts "the broadest range of all-electric niche vehicles under produc- tion in the entire world," according to Georgiou. Far-flung clients are as distant as Saudi Arabia and Mexico. "In that sense, we're expand- ing the export base of Nevada significantly," he says.
