FROM THE PUBLISHER On set of a photoshoot for Vegas Gives with honoree Elizabeth Blau. She's one of eight women selected to represent our big annual charity event with their chosen organizations. It's all about the men. Welcome to this, o ur October issue of Vegas magazine in which we connect, captivate, and celebrate the elevated lifestyles of Las Vegas's influential, chic, debonair, and powerful men. I brought Niche Media's Heather Marolda and Luisdes Cristina Diaz, who flew in from NYC just for the occasion, to a party backstage with our September cover model, Celine Dion. Male entertainers in October include Elton and Rod, who dominate the enormous Caesars Palace Colosseum; Garth, whose intimate show is at Encore; plus my friend Matt Goss, who croons aboard Cleopatra's Barge at Caesars Palace. Those sexy male superstars attract the ladies, but our town will also host two conventions this month that will bring in the men in droves. To start, 17,000 people will play with gambling gadgets and machinery October 2 through October 4 at the Global Gaming Expo, and then on October 29 the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo starts, attracting more than 128,000 people interested in all things motorized, including cars, trucks, and every other vehicle on wheels. Henry Ford would be proud. Three blue men in particular are the biggest news-makers this month. After seven years at Venetian, the Blue Man Group moves to the confines of Monte Carlo Resort & Casino. We offer this incredibly successful act a big blue salute and wish them another incredibly successful run just down the street. Follow me on Twitter at @josefvann and on vegasmagazine.com. ABOVE: Extra! correspondent Adrianna Costa and Courtney Schorr joined me for dinner at Spago. LEFT: I hit T-Bones Chophouse inside Red Rock with my wife, Ilana, for a double date with Marc and Desiree Saggese. And let's not forget sports: Golf tops the list in October, when Justin Timberlake hosts the Shriners Hospital for Children Open at TPC Summerlin October 1 through 7. I trust that my friend Adam Sperling, tournament director, will find a nice spot for me in the pro-am. My final shout-out is to a woman in a predominantly man's world: My friend Elizabeth Blau—the pioneer of Las Vegas cuisine—opens Honey Salt in Summerlin at the end of the month. Enjoy our annual men's issue and all that our incredible town has to offer this month. JOSEF VANN 26 VEGASMAGAZINE.COM
