W ith the paint barely dry in her 5,000-square-foot flagship bou- tique, Vera Wang brings her sophisticated sensibility to Chicago brides-to-be. Located at the corner of Rush and Oak Streets, the space features dark walls, flooring, and furnishings, which imbues the mini- malist interior with an art gallery-like feel. On display are gowns from her latest collection, as well as accessories and shoes from her Lavender line. "Vera has always loved Chicago," says Vera Wang Group president Mario Grauso. "We've always had an assortment of [bridal] dresses available at various stores. She just was looking for the right space, so when we saw this, we were so excited to be on this corner. To have Hermès and Barneys and Prada [nearby] just seemed perfect." In fact, Wang was so pleased with the finished look of her Gold Coast location, she's using it as a template for her bridal boutiques nationwide. 945 Rush St., 312-379-5355; verawang.com MA A runway look from Vera Wang's Fall 2012 collection. Eau NaTurEl a new swim and resortwear boutique arrives just in time for the warmer weather. No matter what you have planned for your summer vacation—a tropical getaway or just a quick jaunt to Oak Street beach—there's no reason not to do it in style. On April 6, Everything But Water will open its doors at Oakbrook Center, bringing brands like Michael Kors, Nanette Lepore, and Vitamin A all under one roof. "[This] is a beautiful shopping destination and the perfect Chicago location at which to unveil our luxurious new store design," says Sheila Arnold, president and CEO. It's one store that's sure to make a splash. T here's a stylish new import in the Nordstrom shoe department: Ron White shoes. Hailing from Toronto, White is known as Canada's shoe-ru (get it?) and the 30 styles carried exclusively at Nordstrom are fashion-forward entrants into the "luxury comfort" category. White has trademarked the term All-Day Heels because "You can literally run in my shoes," he says. Poron (a material developed by NASA) is inside each insole, and "has 98 percent resiliency after five years of wear," as opposed to foam, which compresses after an hour, he says. Vibram, typically used in hiking boots, has crafted an ultrathin sole exclusively for White that's one- third the weight of its counterparts. Even his platforms have built-in flexibility. "So you have your little sand- wich: You have Vibram, you've got Poron, and now a microfiber platform. People stand and they're like, 'What's going on?' They feel they're in flats." Nordstrom, 55 E.
