OUTSIDE THE (RED) BOX march in paris IKRAM AND JOSH GOLDMAN HIT PARIS FASHION WEEK. RATN E very season on the Sunday of Paris Fashion Week, we host a party at RATN, a fantastic Indian restaurant owned by Sanjeev Bhalla. At our event, a slew of designers, editors, writers, and other friends all come together to eat delicious food, mingle, and recap fashion week. Where else can one find Rodarte designers Laura and Kate Mulleavy breaking bread with Nina Ricci's Peter Copping and Rochas' Marco Zanini? The evening usually ends shortly after a traditional Indian belly dancer performs, accompanied by live music. One time, though, it ended only after a group that included Creatures of the Wind, the Peter Pilotto designers, and Irini Arakas blasted music out of our driver's car and danced on the streets of Paris at 1 AM. LANVIN ANNIVERSARY PARTY W e attended the Lanvin party to celebrate 10 years under Alber Elbaz's creative direction. It was a star-studded night: The guest list included Tilda Swinton, Pharrell Williams, Jessica Alba, Dita Von Teese, and many more of the world's most stylish people. As guests arrived at Lanvin's runway show that evening, they realized something special was about to happen when they were presented with hors d'oeuvres and drinks (a rarity at a fash- ion show). Before the show began, Alber beckoned us backstage, and when Ikram leaned in to give him a hug and a congratulatory kiss he asked her about the crowd's reaction to the pre-show festivities. Ikram said people were "gasping" upon enter- ing the venue, to which Alber joked, "They are gasping because there are food and drinks." The highlight of the evening was when our friend, drag performance artist Joey Arias, asked Ikram to come backstage prior to the show to help him put on his corseted dress, made by Lanvin especially for the occasion. At the end of a fantastic fashion show, instead of the typical wave or walk down the run- way, Alber greeted the crowd over a microphone, and with an "apology" to Pharrell Williams, sang the first verse of "Que Sera Sera," accom- panied by orchestral pop band Pink Martini, Paper magazine cofounder Kim Hastreiter, and Arias in the Lanvin gown. And so the Drag performer Joey Arias models a specially made Lanvin gown. 78 MICHIGANAVEMAG.COM party began… MA STARKWEATHER L ee Anderson was in her mama's belly when Ikram first met her. Years later, after interning at our store and graduating from Parsons in New York, Lee worked as Thakoon's knitwear assistant. She has now moved to Paris to start her own line, Starkweather (her mid- dle name), and this fashion week she presented her first collection, which we will carry in our store in September. Lee designs incredible pieces, including a cross between a 1920s collar muff and a Rick Owens collar (on Lee, BELOW). We enthusiastically await delivery so we can share the collection with everyone this fall. starkweather.fr The bar at RATN is the setting for the Goldmans' Paris party. PHOTOGRAPHY BY JOSH GOLDMAN
