A FeAst For the eyes As the second annual pastoral artisan festival kicks off, we pair decadent jewels with delectable treats—it's all good enough to eat. by molly each photography by chris stein styling by matt Vohr L ife partners Greg O'Neill and Ken Miller spent much of their nearly 20 years as a couple traveling the globe. Upon returning to Chicago, they started Pastoral Artisan Cheese, Bread & Wine, a small market and sandwich shop, as a way to source the artisan-made foods they had grown accustomed to eating. Now eight years and three locations later, the duo is hardly resting on their laurels. Last year they launched the Pastoral Artisan Producer Festival, a collection of their favorite vendors showcasing their wares at the Chicago French Market. The response was overwhelming: 40 vendors participated and 6,000 people attended the free event. For this year's installation, slated for April 28 from 11 am –3 pm, O'Neill and Miller have responded to the demand by stocking the market with more than 70 vendors ranging from brewers to honey makers to sellers of one-off items such as potato chips and caviar. "It's the best from what's around the block and what's around the world," says O'Neill. Here, we pair some of our favorite market finds with oh-so-tempting jewels for a true feast for the eyes. All the salts are naturally harvested, mixed on site, dried by hand, and have a delicate flavor. "They look great, give a little bit of color, and people love to talk about them," says Das. from top: 18k white-gold and diamond Cosmos earrings, Van Cleef & Arpels ($47,000). 933 N.
