PhotograPhy by ben Porter (store, jewelry); nico guilis (Portraits) SeaSoned ExpErt Veteran stylist eVe Michaels of newly opened The Shop offers tips on transitioning into the austin fall. By AmAndA TATom She's easily one of the most fashionable women in Austin, which might be intimidating if she weren't also candid, warm, and funny. Eve Michaels, who has been guiding people toward their best wardrobes for more than 30 years, this spring opened The Shop, the elegant and charming Lake Austin Boulevard headquarters for her image consulting, personal shopping, and styling services, including gala preparation. A nationally known style expert who is also the official stylist for KXAN News and author of Dress Code: Ending Fashion Anarchy, Michaels holds classes in everything from makeup application and etiquette to understanding seasonal trends. For autumn, when the Texas heat is still on, Michaels advises clients to start integrating light- weight fabrics in fall colors beginning in September: navy, garnet, deep green, gray, and black. To achieve the "look" of fall without the weight, pair shorter dresses with over-the-knee boots and add in vests, ankle booties, and long silk scarves. Velvet on shoes, tops, and bags will also be a go-to trend along with statement chokers and touches of metallic fabric. While she enjoys helping her clients elevate their wardrobe, Michaels says a must-have component for any look comes at no cost. "The most important thing of all that every woman needs to have? Confidence!" 2307 Lake Austin Blvd. 512-766- 7467; theshopaustin.com . Longtime Austin stylist Eve Michaels (top right and bottom left) recently opened The Shop (middle row), a space where Michaels holds classes, attends to clients, and sells items such as jewelry from her travels to Mexico (top left) and other finds, including a white/ silver cuff from Alexis Bittar (bottom right). 76  AUSTINWAY.com Style now open
