VERY LIBERAtED. by andrea bennett In quick succession, Clique Hospitality opened its Hearthstone Kitchen & Cellar and Salute Trattoria Italiana in Red Rock Resort, followed by Clique Lounge in Cosmopolitan, when the group, helmed by Light Group vet Andy Masi, announced it would take over Mercadito and turn it into Libre Mexican Cantina. Chef and partner Brian Massie had developed the Clique and Hearthstone menus, but who knew he was a pro at fun, accessible (and even healthy-ish) Mexican? (He had help from Jesus "Chuy" Villegas, recently of Diablo's Cantina.) Clique isn't stopping there: Next up are rustic Italian Bottiglia, and an edgy Mexican place, Borracha, both in Green Valley Ranch. When Mercadito opened in 2014, it was part of a massive expansion of the resort's dining venues. "The layout and design were great," Masi says. "But it was too serious! We needed a lighter atmo- sphere, and tequila, beer and tacos that were, well, a little sillier." Enter festive lucha libre Mexican wrestling décor, plus sizzling fajitas, street tacos, and unexpected twists like mini crab ceviche tacos and vegan coconut ceviche. Want silly?
