Night Shift the Vegas club scene gets a shakeup with the launch of intrigue at wynn. Scan the Strip and you'll see that the "If you build it, they will come" strategy has been behind many a Vegas megaclub—and particularly effective when there's a huge DJ or 5 attached to the brand. But if Wynn Las Vegas Vice President of Operations Sean Christie has anything to do with it, the Vegas nightlife scene might soon see a renaissance in the form of smaller, more intimate clubs like Intrigue, the resort's hotly anticipated revamp of the former Tryst space. In addition to its signature waterfall and state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, the 1,200-capacity venue now features a glass-enclosed patio. Downstairs, inside the former kitchen, an invite-only, strictly social media- free club-within-the-club comes complete with its own turntables, a wall of vintage vinyl records, and even secret entrances to ensure that prying eyes—and smart- phones—don't get access. Christie notes that the policy, by the way, will be strictly enforced. DJs actually have to be able to use vinyl if they want to play the room, but that doesn't mean guests should discount the possibility of seeing some of the Strip's heaviest hitters stop by for a quick set. "We're trying to let the brand itself be the star of the marketing and advertising," Christie says. "If there is a big-name DJ, we're just not going to advertise it." Now that's ingtriguing!
