At 60, Billy Idol's hands (and voice!) still do devilishly good work. photography by rob Fenn You're definitely not a stranger to performing in Vegas; what do you like best about playing here? It's a fun town! Anything goes. People are out for a great time and in the mood for it, so what could be better than for us to play to a pumped-up Vegas audience? What can audiences look forward to from your House of Blues resi- dency? The timeless Idol hits with some deep cuts. Favorite songs to still play live? "White Wedding," "Flesh for Fantasy," "Rebel Yell," "Postcards From the Past," and "Pumping on Steel." And your favorite music to listen to? Rock 'n' roll, punk rock, R&B, reggae, and some hip-hop and rap. Which artists have inspired you the most? John Lennon, David Bowie, Lou Reed, and Dr. Dre. Any advice you'd give to younger musicians of the underground? I started making music and having an artistic life for the love of it, not for money or fame or for any other superfluous reason. That is the best reason to do anything, especially if what you are doing may not have an obvious or mainstream audience. May 4–14, plus additional dates August– October. House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, 702-632- 7600; ticketmaster.com . Punk's high Priest billy idol answers a round of raPid-fire questions about his raucus, rockin' new house of blues gig. by tess eyrich Idol Uncensored SCene Show time 48  vegasmagazine.com
