STREETS AheAd Faraday Future unveiled its FFZerO1 at this year's Consumer eleCtroniCs show, sparking plenty of buzz about nevada's Car manufaCturing industry. by andy wang 120  vegasmagazine.com In the FFZERO1, a doorless, 1,000-horsepower single-seat racecar, the driver is more like a pilot—or, it can just drive itself. What a concept! People have called your car a "Tesla killer." What do you think of that? Sampson: We aren't focused on the competition. The industry will benefit from more players. We don't think that today's cars meet today's needs—there is an opportunity to move the industry forward. . Sure, auto startup Faraday Future's FFZERO1 self- driving car is turning the auto market on it head. But what does the company's plan to build a $1 billion plant mean to the North Las Vegas economy? We turned to Nick Sampson, senior VP of manufacturing, and Dag Reghorn, VP of manufactur- ing, for answers. How will Faraday Future change the North Las Vegas landscape? Dag Reghorn: We are building a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at the Apex Industrial site in North Las Vegas, which will be home to production of our future vehicles. The facility will demonstrate our commitment to sustainability and renewable energy. We intend to bring 4,500 new jobs to support the facility and growth of the local economy. The State of Nevada's Economic Impact study projects there will be approximately $85 billion in economic impact (indirect and direct) over 20 years. We hear that consumers will be able to order the FFZERO1 to drive itself to their door—like takeout. Nick Sampson: We aren't ready to share details yet but we can say it will be a premium, intelligent electric vehicle with industry-leading battery range.
