BEAUTY Fragrances for your self and home that look as good as they smell. THE SHAPE OF THINGS WHAT'S OLD IS NEW This summer British perfumer Penhaligon's introduced the fi nal two fragrances in its Anthology Collection—the lush, woody citrus Esprit du Roi and the shimmering Eau Sans Pareil. With the Anthology Collection, Penhaligon's, established in 1870, has reformulated 10 of its heritage fragrances dating back as far as 1927. Esprit du Roi, from 1983, returns with a swirl of scented foliage incorporat- ing tomato leaf, mint and raspberry leaf, combined with rich fl orals and warm woods for a study in contrasts. Originally created in 1988, Eau Sans Pareil is a romantic scent, opening with a rush of sparkling fruits like kumquat and pineapple, plus sensual white fl owers, and softened with sweet woods and musks. 3.4 oz eau de toilette, $140. The Drugstore at Wynn, 702-770-3535 STOLEN KISSES The newest scent from the house of Cartier, Baiser Vole, is based on the lily, a rare fl ower in fragrances. The smooth metal lid and iconic oval glass are classic Cartier style. The scent was created by Cartier's in-house perfumer, Mathilde Laurent, who says, "This is not a fragrance, it is a fl ower," and notes that the lily is what men name most when asked their favorite fl ower. The name is French for "stolen kisses," because, Laurent says, "I wanted to tempt men into stealing kisses when they catch this scent." 1.6 oz. eau de parfum, $100. Cartier, 702-696-0146 MORE THAN A NUMBER The iconic Chanel No. 5 is a classic for a reason. The simple bottle, designed in 1921, stood in contrast to the ornate bottles of the day. But the kicker is the stopper, inspired by the shape of Paris' Place Vendôme—and a favorite mirror in Coco Chanel's apartment. The beveled edges (added in 1924) evoke an emerald-cut diamond. The scent, created by master parfumer Ernest Beaux to refl ect Mme. Chanel's style, is a sparkling jasmine blend with notes of rose, patchouli, iris and ylang-ylang. The makers of the world's most famous fragrance haven't rested on their laurels, however. The company's No. 19, released in 1971, has just received a new interpretation in No. 19 Poudre, a fl oral bouquet intermingled with crisp green woods and the heart of iris. No. 5 eau de parfum, $67 for 1.7 oz.; No 19 Poudre eau de parfum, $80 for 1.7 oz. Chanel, 702-765-5055 FUNDAMENTAL REEDING IS Your air freshener doesn't have to look like you got it at the supermarket.
