Things kicked off with the Film & Food VIP evening at the Driskill highlighting Austin's culinary talents while Jack Ingram serenaded attendees and Phil Rosenthal, the creator of Everybody Loves Raymond, served as the celebrity host. Highlights from the festival included the Texas premiere of Loving by Austin director and writer Jeff Nichols, as well as the world premiere of Brave New Jersey with Tony Hale (Veep), Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect), and other stars in attendance. A true writer's festival, AFF honored Paul Feig of Bridesmaids, Spy, and Ghostbusters and Marta Kauffman, the co-creator of Friends. Attendees packed panels by actor and writer Jason Segel, as well as one focusing on his epic TV series, How I Met Your Mother, with co-creator Carter Bays.
