FROM THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF We're taking it on the road! Laughing it up with NBC-5's Alicia Roman while doing color commentary for Ashore Thing at Navy Pier. Celebrating the fabulous Nina Mariano's birthday at the Lake Forest home of Craig Bergmann (BEHIND NINA, IN GLASSES) and Paul Klug (FAR RIGHT). There are dozens of reasons why I'm madly in love with this city—the lake, the architec- With tech stars Maria Katris and Seth Kravitz. I say it all the time because I believe it 100 percent: Chicagoans are what make Chicago great. That's why being the editor-in-chief of Michigan Avenue is such a thrill. Whether at meetings, luncheons, parties, or magazine events, not a day goes by that I don't have the good fortune to meet amazingly talented and accomplished Windy City residents, from corporate titans to emerging artists to big thinkers who are generously channeling their energies into improving our city. Without a doubt the best perk of this position is being able to interact with some of this town's most accomplished citizens and share their stories with our readers. Our September issue is filled with just those kinds of stories. The story of how local scion Marshall Field V Follow me on Twitter and his wife, Jamee, are champion@JP_Anderson and at ing the Lake Forest Open Lands michiganavemag.com. Association. Of how award-winning chef Carrie Nahabedian is bringing fine dining back to River North with Brindille. And of how cover girl Ali Larter, too, has fallen head over heels for the Windy City. Befitting our fall fashion issue, there are also couture stories aplenty, with profiles of A-list shoe designer (and Joliet native) Brian Atwood and Groupon exec-turned-nonprofit-fashionqueen Jayna Cooke. Plus, we've pulled off a stunning fashion shoot that showcases fall's most fashionable coats in the instantly iconic new Langham Hotel, set in a landmark building designed by another accomplished Chicagoan, Mies van der Rohe. Fashion designers and philanthropists, architects and actresses... they're all part of what makes Chicago such an incredible city—and so easy to fall in love with. J.P.
