PHOTOGRAPHY BY BLAINE SIESSER (FREHSÉE); AGGIE SKIRBALL (HAYES); KWAKU ALSTON (MYCOSKIE); JODIE LOVE (GOLDBERG) ...WITHOUT WHOM THIS ISSUE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE WINTER 2012/SPRING 2013 nicole frehsée Nicole Frehsée ("Instrumental," page 148) is a freelance writer and former assistant editor at Rolling Stone. Her work has appeared in O, the Oprah Magazine, Budget Travel, Maxim, Hemispheres, and more. Top concert: Steve Winwood, whom I saw in 2003; Leonard Cohen at the Beacon Theatre in NYC in 2009; Tom Petty at Red Rocks in 2010; any Steely Dan show. I love intimate venues, so the Belly Up story was extra fun. Whom I'd most like to interview: P robably the Beatles. I've been a fan since my parents bought Past Masters, Vol. II when I was 9— I know the lyrics to every song in their catalog. linda hayes A spen freelancer Linda Hayes writes about culinary travel, architecture, and design for many magazines and websites. In this issue she takes us on a tour of Hotel Jerome (page 189). When she's not on the road, she lives in a modern straw bale house with her husband, Kelly J. Hayes; a black Lab named Vino; and a sourdough starter named Rosemary. Top Hotel Jerome moment: Before we moved to Aspen, we'd stay at Hotel Jerome. michael goldberg C hicago native Michael Goldberg is the owner of Belly Up Aspen and opened the wildly popular Matsuhisa restaurant with his brother, Steve. During his football years at the University of Minnesota, he discovered a love of flying and eventually worked in Miami's aviation business, and has also served on the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra Board. He has three sons, and since opening Belly Up in 2005, he's produced more than 2000 concerts. Check out his outstanding rock photography in "Instrumental" on page 148. Photographer who most inspires me: T Canon or Leica M9. Top Belly Up Moment: When it all comes together: Chase the show, book it, promote it, sell out, anticipation, artist is happy and gives stellar performance, crowd is rocking, encore. There are many... they just go too fast. 36 ASPENPEAK-MAGAZINE.COM hose who can see more creatively than me... which is most anyone. My Camera: Once, while we were in the pool, we could see our cocker spaniel, Columbus, watching us from the window of our room. It's an image I'll never forget. blake mycoskie Blake Mycoskie is the founder of TOMS and the person behind One for One, which has turned into a global movement. TOMS has given more than two million pairs of shoes to needy children since 2006, and is, with TOMS eyewear, helping to restore sight for those in need. He chats with good friend and cover star Lauren Bush Lauren on page 142. I never travel without: My custom Skullcandy TOMS headphones. TOMS shoe I most wear: University Red Rope Sole Classics. I first met Lauren Bush Lauren at: A dinner in the Hamptons hosted by Summer Rayne Oakes in 2007.
