OUTSIDE THE (RED) BOX inside chicago IKRAM AND JOSH GOLDMAN DIVULGE THEIR LATE-NIGHT REVELRY AND FAVORITE FINDS. MIDNIGHT DINNER T A HEAD ABOVE W he orchestral pop band Pink Martini recently came to Chicago to perform at Orchestra Hall, but the real show happened at our café after the concert. We hosted a midnight dinner for the band members—a group of about 20 people—and 10 of our closest friends, including designer Maria Cornejo (who had hosted a trunk show in our store earlier that day), Desiree Rogers, and Linda Johnson Rice. It was a surreal moment when, at about 3 AM, bandleader Thomas Lauderdale got up to play the piano while vocalist China Forbes simultaneously sang and shopped. She wound up buying a gold lamé Moschino dress that is going to be on the cover of their next album. CHICAGOANS IN PARIS W e find Chicagoans all over the world, and we loved meeting the US ambassador to France, Charles Rivkin, at a private event in his home on the Rue Faubourg St. Honore toasting the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winners. Anna Wintour, Tommy Hilfiger, and many other American fashion luminaries were in attendance, and as Tommy Hilfiger recounted his rise and fall in fashion—including a bankruptcy in the '70s—everyone in the room cried, including us. It was a reminder to the designers that the business has struggles— and the importance of perseverance. Our friends Shane Gabier and Chris Peters, from Chicago-based label Creatures of the Wind, were among the honorees, and Rivkin (like Josh) is a graduate of Francis W. Parker School. BODYGEARS W e love to share our favorite body treatments with our friends and clients, and lately we've been telling everybody about our functional manual therapist, April Oury, who is an ace at muscle and nerve manipulation. She's helped many of our friends resolve years of back and knee pain. 630-876-9186 or dynamicphystherapy.com MA Sonia Boyajian outside her Paris store e've been carrying American jewelry designer Sonia Boyajian's lush pieces for years, and we all re- united in Paris, where she rented a storefront studio and turned it into a mini-shop that was abso- lutely brilliant. While her three- year-old son played with our twin boys, Oberon and Aragon, we selected our favorite pieces for our store. We're especially excited about her whimsical headpieces— the perfect summer bridal acces- sory—made of wire and strung with beautiful crystals and beads. Keep your eyes on her–in the next few months, she'll be entering the spotlight in a big way (but we're sworn to secrecy). A midnight dinner at our store had people laughing and shopping until the wee hours. 90 MICHIGANAVEMAG.COM The fashion set in Paris to honor the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winners PHOTOGRAPHY BY JOSH GOLDMAN
