men's report What to Wear When you're Working out class-a hunk ryan reynolds is a fitting front man for hugo boss's newest sporting scent. You'd never guess it, but the favorite fragrance of dapper Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds is lavender. "My mom just loved lavender so the whole house would smell of it," he says. "It brings me home in an instant." So it's appropriate that lavender is one of the heart notes in Boss Bottled Sport ($67), the new scent for which Reynolds is the face. Don't be fooled into thinking that this is a flowery fragrance, though. The addition of masculine tonka bean, punchy grapefruit, and spicy cardamom has created an invigorating blend designed to push athletes to the next level. Nordstrom, 55 E. P erhaps it's the dapper styling of TV shows like the perennial favorite Mad Men, the cyclical nature of fashion, or just the everything-old-is- new-again philosophy, but there's no doubt that designers are looking back for fashion-forward trends. And that is certainly the case with men's sunglasses. "There are a couple of reasons why the vintage style is so popu- lar at the moment," says Laurie Davis, owner of Lulu's at the Belle Kay, a vintage salon on North Lincoln Avenue. "Don Draper definitely has had an impact. It's nostalgic for baby boomers, and there is a whole generation that has never seen it before." Some men might choose to incorporate the vin- tage trend with a great pair of two-toned shoes or a madras shirt, but a stylish pair of tortoiseshell shades with a bygone-era vibe is an easy way to introduce this hip trend into your wardrobe, says Davis. And it's one that's perfectly appropriate for the sun-drenched days of summer. MA Light tortoise aviators with metal detail, Persol ($310).
