Fresh o the launch of Aston Martin's stunning DB11 V-12 auto comes a whole new personality for the grand sports tourer, courtesy of a high-powered twin-turbocharged V-8 engine. is lighter and more fuel-ecient engine gives the DB11 V-8 a totally dierent feel—and appeal—from its supercar sibling. With 503 horsepower and 513 lb.-ft. of torque, the twin- turbocharged V-8 found under the new DB11's long bonnet is a standout. Designed in partnership with Mercedes-AMG, Aston Martin's technical partner, this 4.0-liter V-8 was put through the testing ringer, undergoing endurance evaluations in extreme desert climates while also being subjected to subzero temperatures to ensure outstanding reliability and durability year-round. Aston Martin's engineers tailored the V-8 to the DB11 performance DNA with a custom wet sump lubrication system, bespoke air intake and a unique exhaust, giving it a truly Aston Martin-like sonic identity: a calm hum at idle that turns venomous the moment you stab the throttle. e DB11's V-8 engine weighs roughly 250 pounds less than the V-12. e V-8 also has a smaller footprint, which allowed Aston Martin engineers to position the engine rearward, thereby placing more mass at the center of the DB11 V-8's wheelbase to enhance balance. Aston Martin also made changes to the DB11 V-12's antiroll bars, springs, dampers, stability control software and suspension geometry for the V-8 version. All of these modications give the DB11 V-8 a sportier character; it feels purposefully more agile and nimble than the V-12, characteristics that are especially evident on twisty switchback roads. On the outside, Aston Martin designers made several tweaks for the V-8 model to dierentiate it from the V-12. Up front, these dierences include smoked headlamp bezels and two, instead of four, hood vents. What doesn't change, however, are the DB11's masterful lines, including its front- hinged clamshell hood, iconic Aston Martin grille, crisp LED taillamps and a unique C-pillar with built in air ducts for optimal aerodynamics. A rolling work of art, the DB11 V-8 is as pure in form as it is in function. Inside, the DB11 V-8 doesn't sacrice a whit of luxury as compared to the V-12, with bespoke British detailing including handstitched leather trim, a crystal start-stop button and real glass buttons. Further customization, like brogue stitching on the armrest or the ability to incorporate your family's crest on the headrests, is possible through the Q by Aston Martin personalization service.
