A LANDMARK RE-ENVISIONED The historic 10-acre Commodore Perry Estate will be transformed into an Auberge resor t in 2019. BY CHAD SWIATECKI It's hard to imagine a more posh getaway in the middle of Austin than what guests at the restored Commodore Perry Estate will enjoy. e 1920s Italian Renaissance-style home and gardens on 10 acres, just a few minutes north of downtown, will be converted into a 53-room luxury boutique hotel and event space managed by five-star resort specialists Auberge Resorts Collection. Auberge CEO Craig Reid says his team will go to great lengths to preserve its history and character for a new generation to admire beginning in 2019. "It's very important architecturally because it's an H.B. omson home and one of the more prominent homes in early Austin," says Reid. "We'll give a very modern experience but also transfer you 100 years back in history, and the luxury will be the finesse of the setting."
