FROM THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF With chef Daniel Bruce at the Boston Wine Festival's opening reception at the Boston Harbor Hotel at Rowes Wharf. We are deep into the bloom of Boston's spring social season, one of the most With Kelley Tuthill from Channel 5 and Gideon Gradman at last year's Hot Pink Party. vibrant times of the year. It's a pleasure to see that with longer, warmer days comes an optimism that fosters generosity at the various fundrais- ers around the city. May kicks off with one of the most moving and entertaining galas of the season—the Perkins Possibilities Gala, on the 3rd—to benefit the Perkins School for the Blind. The special guest entertainment is still a secret, so you'll have to purchase a seat (or a table!) to see the reveal, but it's guaranteed to be good. Past galas have featured Natalie Merchant, Bob Weir, and James Taylor. Although the vibe—ladies who lunch and sophisticated millinery—is vastly different, the spirit of generosity is similar at Party in the Park on May 16. The event, founded by Wendy Shattuck, benefits the Justine Mee Liff Fund through the Emerald Necklace Conservancy. It's hard to say which element of beauty outshines the rest—the flowers by Winston Flowers, the food prepared by Holly Safford and her sons at The Facebook.com/boston-common and on Follow me on Facebook at bostoncommon-magazine.com. Catered Affair, or the hats. I can't wait to see those hats. Two other events that week put the fun in fundraiser—The Breast ABOVE: Marc Vos, Mary Judge, and Desi at the Diane von Furstenberg boutique. LEFT: Shannon Pastuszak, Courtney Forrester, and Sara Underwood at the Diane von Furstenburg boutique for the launch of the Spring 2012 collection. Cancer Research Foundation's Boston Hot Pink Party on May 17 and the House Party on the 19th, which benefits the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston. This year's BCRF gala will be at the InterContinental, right in the thick of the burgeoning waterfront action. It will be the first year the event will proceed without the presence of the late Evelyn Lauder, and she will be dearly missed. Early congratulations go out to Elisha Daniels and Sandy Krakoff for being honored with the organization's Humanitarian Award. John Henry and Linda Pizzuti Henry will host this year's House Party at their new Brookline property. Last year the tent at Robert and Myra Kraft's Chestnut Hill home held 500 revelers and philanthropists and raised $2 million. It was a lot of fun, complete with characters on stilts, jugglers, magicians, and bartenders mixing some magical concoctions. Together we can help these organizations raise the money they need to support programs for children, cures, and maintaining our parks. Here's to the spirit of generosity!
