John Unwin is recruited from Caesars Palace to be CEO of the Cosmopolitan, creating friction for Deutsche Bank, which does business with Caesars Entertainment. The culinary lineup is revealed and foodies rejoice: Blue Ribbon Sushi, Jaleo, China Poblano, and Estiatorio Milos, among others. The Cosmopolitan announces its retail lineup, bringing in brands new to the city, including Beckley and Droog. The Hearst Corporation, owner of Cosmopolitan magazine, fi les a $500,000 trademark infringement lawsuit over use of the name. In December 2009, the suit is settled. The hotel becomes known as The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Hilton Worldwide is rumored to acquire the Cosmopolitan as the fi rst entry in its Denizen Hotel line. Hilton is sued by Starwood for trademark infringement and the deal is scuttled.
