TASTEMAKER corte's forte D esigner Daniela Corte seems to do it all—except sleep, that is. This Argentine fashion firecracker wakes before 5 every morning for a run, heads over to her Newbury Street design studio for a full day of work, returns every evening to her Back Bay residence in time to prepare healthy meals for her husband and her 5- and 7-year-old (often lunches, too), then tucks the children into bed before returning to the studio to work into the wee hours or heading out to one of Boston's see-and-be-seen social events. "I'm very fortunate—I have a lot of help," admits Corte. "But I'm also very good with schedules and sticking to 'the list.' For me, family and friends are priority." Now Corte is expanding her circle of friends, with campaigns to spread the gospel of her fashion line in places like Los Angeles and Miami. While 78 she contends that Boston will always be her home base and headquarters, she hopes to grow the business by paralleling its ultrasuccessful leggings campaign, which highlights local tastemakers and trendsetters. Corte wants to dispel the myth that her body-conscious apparel is limited to runway models and those who share her petite frame. "I get a lot of 'I can't wear your clothes; they're too formfitting. I'm too old. I'm too fat,'" she says. "The whole idea behind this campaign is that people of all ages, of all body types can wear our leggings." Los Angeles seemed like the next logical step, now that some celebs are sporting these übercomfortable fashion staples featuring Italian stretch leather and a wide elastic waistband imported from Argentina—ensuring that containment isn't forsaken for style.
