LOVE FEST THE ACL MUSIC FESTIVAL HAS EVOLVED AND EXPANDED IN EVERY WAY, BUT ITS HEART REMAINS THE SAME. BY MICHAEL VENTRE Austin is only about 230 miles from Laredo, but for young Adrian Quesada, it was an almost mystical place. And it was a TV show—Austin City Limits– that made it seem that way. "I remember watching it when I was younger," says Quesada, guitarist for Spanish Gold, a featured act at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, which will once again take over Zilker Park for two weekends in October. "It felt like Austin was such a faraway land. Even just three and a half hours from home, it seemed like a magical place." Since then, Austin has adopted Quesada as a native son, as it has countless other artists who have migrated to the city over the years for the musical nutrition it offers.
