T he Strip offers no shortage of restaurants t hat m ight appea l to a pr ivacy- seek ing power player —a lt hough at most Vega s gathering places, conspicuous consumption is the whole point. But when one of the world's elite discovers a persona l haven, it 's a lmost a s if a sublim ina l bell sig na ls to t he rest t hat it 's sa fe to follow. And for the past eight years, that place has been the Country Club at Wynn. Among the people we've persona lly seen t here (t he club doesn't ser ve a nd tell) a re Ty ra Ba nks, ret ired major leag ue pitcher M ike Maddu x, Donna K a ra n, Oscar de la Renta, and Henry Kissinger. "I f you go in for brea k fa st or lunch on a ny given day, who you will see in that room is amaz- ing," says Todd-Avery Lenahan of TAL Studio, who designed the space. "Academy Award win- ners, past president s, Nobel Pr ize recipient s... everyone goes there." Pa r t of what ma kes t he Count r y Club t he choice of power brokers, fashion royalty, media moguls, and Hollywood celebrities is the cachet t hat comes from the 40 stars accumulated by Wynn Resorts' collection of Forbes Travel Guide Five- St a r proper t ies (more t ha n a ny indepen- dent hotel company in the world). Says Carlos Guía, the Country Club's executive chef, "There is a certain expectation that comes with that."
