There's more to Aspen's winter jewelry game than the presumed turtlenecks and turquoise baubles. From the slopes to the soirées, the trend to rock this season is simple, according to Ignacio Munoz, manager of Van Cleef & Arpels (Les Bijoux, 400 E. Hyman Ave., 888-984-4822; vancleefarpels.com): "Sparkles! Whether on your neck, wrist, or ears." That goes for stackable bracelets, chokers, and rings—such as the Ovale and Émeraude pieces from Lisa Des Camps (lisadescamps.com), the part-time Aspenite who will be displaying her Southwestern wares at trunk shows in town all winter long. "And for party wear, don't forget about boulder opals," she adds of the multicolored gemstones found at the heart of many of her pendant necklaces. "I love seeing a strong, confident woman bucking the norm and rocking a piece that no one would ever expect," agrees Meridian Jewelers (525 E. Cooper Ave., 970-925-3833; meridianjewelers.com) owner Robin Smith, who suggests building looks around eye-catching statement pieces, such as the extended and multitiered Loree Rodkin bondage ring. The same principle extends to ear-wear, with Jacquie Aiche ear bands and jackets and Pamela Love crawlers from Covet (306 S. Mill St., 970- 920-0000; covetaspen .com) defying the notion that earrings are rings worn through the lobe. But traditional doesn't have to mean boring, says Munoz, pointing to the 20-motif long necklace from Van Cleef's Vintage Alhambra collection. And for that extra-plung- ing neckline, he suggests, look to the diamond- rowed necklaces from the Palmyre collection. . 96 ASPENPEAK-MAGAZINE.COM "I LOVE SEEING A STRONG, CONFIDENT WOMAN BUCKING THE NORM AND ROCKING A PIECE THAT NO ONE WOULD EVER EXPECT." —ROBIN SMITH PHOTOGRAPHY BY RICHARD GUNION/GETTY IMAGES (MOUNTAINS); COURTESY OF VAN CLEEF & ARPELS (NECKLACE); LISA DES CAMPS (ÉMERAUDE RING); LOREE RODKIN (BONDAGE RING); BY NAJ JAMAI FOR JACQUIE AICHE (EAR JACKET AND MODEL) SHINE ON FOR HOLIDAY SEASON ADORNMENTS, TOWN'S TOP JEWELERS AGREE: GO ALL OUT!
