I GOT HIGH ON YOGA ACROPHOBIA SUFFERER FINDS PEACE ON THE WORLD'S HIGHEST FERRIS WHEEL. BY ANDREA BENNETT For someone with a pathological fear of heights, doing a downward- facing anything from 550 feet seems, you know, wrong. Think of other things that are the approximate height of the Linq's High Roller: the Washington Monument, the Seattle Space Needle—neither of which I have any desire to stand atop in Lululemons contorting myself. But then I saw this picture of Giada De Laurentiis, bestowing her gentle blessing on the entire Vegas valley from the wheel's apex. This summer, the High Roller inked a deal with Silent Savasana to offer yoga on high, with a live instructor and music through a headset, filtering out ambient noise –and perhaps, your fear of falling. The hour-long session promised to leave me "soothed," and "focused." What Would Giada Do? I signed on. As we ascended, resting on our mats to the gentle vibrations and a great soundtrack, my internal monologue went something like: "Can Giada see into her kitchen from here?" and "How much higher am I than Venetian's campanile?" (Answer: 235 feet.) But then the hushed voice of our instructor broke through: "Stop thinking so much." I did, and a magical thing hap- pened: No vertigo, just peaceful hovering over the best view of Vegas I'd ever had. Emboldened, I soared into shoulder pose and dived into downward dog, and felt just as Zenned out as Giada looked, if sweatier, and with less awesome hair. And I emerged, yes, soothed and focused. caesars.com/linq/high-roller. . 112 VEGASMAGAZINE.COM Giada De Laurentiis was clearly so relaxed on her yoga journey on the High Roller, she didn't even know her picture was being taken.
