By Kiersten sinKo Who: Irika Sargent, the CBS 2 co-anchor for the 5, 6, and 10 pm weekday news. Family reunion: "The goal was always to get to Chicago as a journalist," says the Kansas City, Missouri, native, who studied Journalism at University of Missouri and made trips to the Windy City to visit her brother. "There's a lot of opportunity here socially and career-wise." Dish destinations: Sunda for the spicy "Tail of Two Tunas" roll and the crispy Brussels sprouts salad; Summer House Santa Monica for the smoked salmon hash brown Benedict. "I'm dreaming about it [right now]." Double life: Sargent is a licensed attorney with a JD from Cornell. "Even when I was in law school, the goal was to use that skill set as a journalist," says Sargent. "I also thought, 'What added value can I bring to a newsroom?'" Hidden talent: A black belt in Taekwondo, Sargent was at one point the Kansas state champion for her age group. "I like the structure and the protocol," she explains. "[And it's a great way to relieve] stress and tension after a busy day." On her playlist: Adele, Kendrick Lamar, Alabama Shakes, and particularly iconic crooner Sade.
