THE ACE OF FACE Model turned makeup artist Adriana Aude turns heads with a less-is-more approach. "I've spent the last year perfecting the five-minute look," says makeup artist Adriana Aude, who pioneered her personal "Shop with Me" service for Chicagoans nearly 10 years ago. After hitting Bluemercury ("my home away from home," says Aude) with her clients, the Kankakee native joins them at home to demonstrate how to apply the makeup they've purchased—like Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, which Aude swears by as a triple-duty concealer, foundation, and lip primer for the on-the-go set. My definition of beauty: Polished but relaxed—as though I didn't put a ton of effort into it. The Chicago look: We want the high fashion, but we also want the laid-back cool—somewhere between New York and LA. For a fresh start: Lose the routine. Everyone gets into a rut—even I do. Same colors, same application… Don't be afraid to try something new and see yourself differently. Model citizen: I started modeling when I was 16, and I worked in Chicago, New York, and London. I still model. Now I do "mom" jobs; my most recent was the back of the Special K box. Proudest moment: Working in the tents at Bryant Park [for Fashion Week] in the '90s. Every makeup artist dreams of doing that; I did it. I reinvented myself: When I had kids! I used to spend an hour putting on makeup every day. When I had my daughter, it was a wake-up call.
