STYLE NICHE How the West Is Worn WITH AN EXPANSIVE NEW BOUTIQUE AT THE FORUM SHOPS, KEMO SABE BRINGS THE BEST OF THE WEST TO LAS VEGAS. Southwestern motifs have guided Ralph Lauren's vintage aesthetic for years, with embossed leather detailing, fringe, and suede pieces dominating previous collections. This winter, the American designer captures the label's rugged spirit in a line of special-edition sunglasses and optical frames. A silver aviator style with a camel leather brow bar lends itself to a weekend getaway in our desert, while a ladylike cat-eye with embellished metal corners is glamorous enough for a day on the Strip. In natural horn, tortoise, and black, each pair comes with an exclusive Western-inspired embossed leather case. Grand Canal Shoppes at Venetian and Palazzo, 702-650-5656; ralphlauren.com PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY OF WILLIAM HENRY (KNIFE) usband and wife Tom and Nancy Yoder opened their first Kemo Sabe boutique in Colorado's Snowmass Village in 1990. Now, with successful outposts in Aspen and Vail, the couple are celebrating the opening of their first out-of-state location, at The Forum Shops at Caesars. "Las Vegas was our first choice," says Nancy. "It's a city rich in Western heritage, and we want to bring back that feeling of the Old West and the honesty and romance of the cowboy lifestyle." Top Western brands, including Bohlin, Stetson, and Lucchese, line the walls of the new 2,000-square-foot boutique, which is nearly double the size of Kemo Sabe's other locations. "We had to up our game for Vegas," Nancy explains. "We couldn't take the same look from Aspen and bring it here. There is still barn wood and beautifully milled wood, but there are finer materials and more design elements." In addition to Kemo Sabe's usual designer assortment, the Vegas boutique will offer Golden Goose hats, Alberto Fasciani's high-fashion women's boots, and the Yoders' own American Grit collection of hats, cowboy boots, and silver belt buckles, all designed by the couple in Colorado. Most special is the selection of designs exclusive to Kemo Sabe. "Finding unique products is challenging," says Nancy, "but we travel all over the country to find beautiful, one-of-a-kind jewelry by artisans who are not mass-produced." Sourced mainly from New Mexico, Texas, and Florida, luxe silver accessories are decorated with natural accents, as in a pavé diamond-and-horn necklace and a turquoise-embellished cocktail ring. For men, the shop sells William Henry limited-edition knives, featuring exotic handles made of fossilized materials such as coral, mammoth tooth, and dinosaur bone, as well as rare premium woods.
