A fter a recent, very long stay at the Taj Boston, Maria Giulia Maramotti understands how terribly moody our Boston winters can be. She had been in town to oversee the construction of the Newbury Street flagship store of Max Mara, the legendary fashion house that her grandfather founded in the early 1950s. In keeping with family tradition, she now serves as the global brand ambassador and directs North American retail. Jetting from Boston to her home country of Italy is commonplace, and she naturally takes on the challenge in the signature sophisticated, elegant, and glamorous Max Mara style. This winter, the key to keeping warm for Maramotti is the Manuela coat, a camel hair, belted, wraparound number. "It's a classic, timeless piece, but the fact that it's very masculine and has volume is very on trend this season, so this is definitely what I'm going to wear," she says.
