For more than a decade, Nolan Dalla has been the face of the biggest poker event in the world. BY MICHAEL KAPLAN PHOTOGRAPHY BY JACOB KEPLER O n the 4th of this month, when the nine remaining players—aptly called the November Nine—in the World Series of Poker's Main Event convene onstage at the Penn & Teller Theater, inside the Rio, they will each be angling for a first-place prize in excess of $8.3 million, with an additional $18 million-plus divided among the runners-up. It's a glitzy, high-stakes finale, captured by ESPN's cameras and viewed around the world. Amid the bricks of hundred-dollar bills and explosive cheers from the crowd, Nolan Dalla, bearded and decked-out, will loom large. Dalla signed on as media director for the WSOP at the tail end of poker's bad old days, in the fall of 2002, and he's still there now, as the Main Event delivers a purse more than twice that of the Masters Golf Tournament and the Kentucky Derby combined.
