Bloomingdale's (The Mall at Chestnut Hill, 617-630-6000; blooming dales.com) has teamed with a litany of established British brands to bring us the best fashion from across the pond. We can relive Beatlemania with designs such as a Paul Smith bomber with abstract Beatles lining ($825) and cheeky Yellow Submarine cuff links ($80) by Simon Carter. Other options, such as a McQ plaid jacket ($560) and geometric motif ties ($195) by Marwood, are all part of the Britannia focus. "Our British merchandise complements Boston's educated sense of dressing," says Bloomingdale's Vice President Kevin Harter, "and allows the gentleman to be even more dapper." British designer Karen Millen presents strong designs for the lasses with mod silhouettes in limited-edition styles. Her form-fitting wool dress ($425) and mini skirt ($130) feature 1960s flair made famous by British style icons like Twiggy. Kerri Horton of the Ritz-Carlton outpost of British house Asprey (10 Avery St., 617-574-7172; asprey.com) sees shoppers expressing the British trend, choosing pieces like the Morgan day bag ($21,200), featuring fine English craftsmanship in a bold hue. "Boston is a great market for British-based retailers," says Horton, who expects more UK brands to launch here. Fellow UK native Issa London agrees, as the designs favored by the Duchess of Cambridge also land on our shores this month. The launch of the brand's limited-edition 40-piece collection for Banana Republic (28 Newbury St., 617-2673933; bananarepublic.com) presents a fresh twist on colonial safari fashion, the motif that first launched the company in the 1970s. BC ENGLISH ACCENT Louis Vuitton's W bag updates the classic check pattern. FROM TOP: A dapper gent displays classic English style on Newbury Street; Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, wearing Issa London. 98 This fall Louis Vuitton debuts the W bag, our favorite version of which showcases a contemporary take on houndstooth, updating the traditional British textile with rich black-and-white detailing in graphic shapes. Certain to pair perfectly with tailored looks such as a Ted Baker pencil skirt or mod silhouettes reminiscent of Twiggy, the W bag offers the perfect accessory for British dressing.
