O ur town's most prestigious men's charity event celebrated 10 years in style with an extravagant evening dedicated to the philanthropic work of this year's men. For the first time ever, Vegas Dozen took over Fashion Show to give the honorees a dramatic entrance and allow everyone in the mall to hear their inspiring stories, via fun slide shows of their favorite moments in philanthropy and short speeches by the men. Then the party moved to Saks Fifth Avenue, whose local executives choose the honorees. Stephen Sadove, Saks's chairman and CEO, flew in from New York to join Mari Landers, the company's local vice president and general manager, and past honorees, including Cosmopolitan CEO John Unwin, Penn & Teller's Penn Jillette, Myron Martin of the Smith Center, Fox5's Jason Feinberg, and singer Clint Holmes. Power couple and longtime Dozen supporters Larry and Camille Ruvo (he was an honoree in 2005) also attended, representing the beneficiary of this year's ticket sales, Keep Memory Alive. KMA succeeded the Nevada Cancer Institute, which was the recipient of more than $275,000 from the event over the last nine years. Past honorees also include Steve Wynn, Carlos Santana, Andre Agassi, Siegfried & Roy, Jerry Tarkanian, Wolfgang Puck, George Wallace, and Oscar Goodman, and this year's amazing group follows in that tradition of diversity, with casino executives, a Hall of Fame football star, a TV anchor, a world-famous performer, and other distinguished professionals who have donated an impressive amount of time and muscle to causes dear to them and their families. A proud cohost of the event, Vegas magazine salutes these leaders, who show that our town might be small, but we have huge hearts.
