I was already actively working in showbiz, so it made sense. You were singing with Gladys Knight. She was probably one of the most influential people, not only as a part of my career, but in my life. She's a parent, too, so she was all about me maintaining my grades. Why do you think a school like LVA is so valuable to the youth of Las Vegas? The arts are so important, and I see it being stripped away from so many schools. I think that's why I wanted to go there: It was a school that birthed a lot of dreams. Tell us about a memorable moment from your time at LVA. The day our school won a Grammy Award.
