SCOTT WALKER Principal since 2011 Did you apply for LVA or were you assigned? You bet I applied. To me this was a dream job. Why were you excited to begin working at LVA? I've always believed in the arts. I get frustrated when school districts need to make cuts and the first thing to go are elective programs. My philosophy is that we need to get kids careerfocused. A high school diploma is great, but then what? What's the school's atmosphere like? One day an assistant principal saw a crowd gathering and expected it to be a sign of trouble. But when she got a little closer, she saw that the crowd was gathering because there was some music playing and they were all doing the cha-cha. Tell me about the staff. In a school district where there's frequent turnover, I didn't lose a single teacher last year. They all chose to stay. They appreciate the kids who come here, and that makes it a real special place.
