VINCE GILL AND AMY GRANT GOLF CLASSIC What: Challenge Aspen is a nonprofit that has been providing adaptive recreational and cultural opportunities to individuals with disabilities since 1995. The 10th annual golf classic will include an intimate dinner, a concert, and a gala at the St. Regis, followed by a day of golfing with PGA and celebrity players. Just 10 days after our team returned to the United States, the BBC and ABC News reported that more than 3,000 people had been killed in a devastating flash of intertribal violence. The violence quickly spread into Duk County, where 86 villagers were killed. Sadly, we learned that among those killed was our patient Lonnie. What: The Aspen Art Museum's annual ArtCrush summer benefit features three days of art-related events: WineCrush, hosted by John and Amy Phelan; PreviewCrush, a cocktail reception and sneak peek at the live-auction lots, held at the Baldwin Gallery; and finally, the main event, ArtCrush, which attracts 350 attendees to the Aspen Art Museum grounds. This festive gathering brings together a who's who of the contemporary international art scene. In addition, Teresita Fernández will be honored with the Aspen Art Museum's 2013 Aspen Award for Art. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the "I Believe in Art" campaign to raise funds to build a new campus for the Aspen Community School, a public charter school known for its outstanding visual and performing arts programs that is housed in one of the state's lowest-rated facilities. The annual summit on renewable energy technology and policy focuses on America's new clean-energy economy and solutions to the climate crisis. KOMEN ASPEN/SNOWMASS RIDE FOR THE CURE Visit cureblindness.org for information about Tabin and Crandall's international eye-care work. What: The Aspen affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure serves Pitkin, Eagle, and Garfield Counties and plays a vital role in fighting breast cancer in our community. This bike race will raise awareness and funds to fight the disease. He will soon return home to see his granddaughter for the first time. These steadfast miracle doctors, with the support of our entire team, have given Lonnie and many others in South Sudan their lives back. There will be more days and long hours of work ahead, but for the moment, euphoria envelops me and I feel a deep sense of satisfaction. This is why I came.
