As with any of life's biggest moments, from graduation and your first job to your first sweetheart and your wedding day, on June 26, 2003, at 8 PM , I had the proverbial butterflies. The Vegas team had assembled to give birth to and shepherd this new brand of magazine. We had pounded Las Vegas Boulevard and Madison Avenue to secure advertising, distribution, and sponsorship partners for Las Vegas's newest media vehicle. It was truly one of a kind: an oversize, high-gloss, luxury lifestyle magazine about the hormone—the feeling that people get in the pit of their stomach when they first feast their eyes on the shimmering lights of Las Vegas. It all started one fateful afternoon on the golf course at Red Rock Country Club, an outing that turned into a lunch with Greenspun decision makers (namely a Greenspun himself) and into an amazing trip to Miami Beach, where we met our partners at Ocean Drive magazine. It was a profound vegasmagazine.com. moment, and I can still remember, a decade later, the feelings of pride and unabashed excitement. One final thought on our 10th anniversary: I'm honored and lucky to be surrounded by such talented people who constitute the Vegas magazine team: Abby Tegnelia, our esteemed and very talented and smart editor-in-chief; Emma Trotter, our assistant editor; Kelli Maruca, vice president of marketing, who conceptualizes and activates more than 40 events per year, and keeps our brand in check; her coordinator Remmington McKenney; Rebekah Zimlich, my "optimizer," who ensures that the book is everywhere it's supposed to be; the sales team of Tiffany Carey, Jessica Zivkovitch, Vince Durocher, and Kacie Turpenen; and last but certainly not least, my assistant, Rue McBride, who has an uncanny instinct that helps our wonderful magazine flow every day of the week. Here's to you, Team Vegas, for making the last 10 years amazing.
