OUTSIDE THE (RED) BOX warming trend IKRAM AND JOSH GOLDMAN REPORT THEIR HOTTEST SPRING DISCOVERIES, IN PARIS AND AT HOME. LOVELY LAYERS Undercover was one of the funniest, most fascinating collections I saw during Paris Fashion Week—the theme was Japanese Playboy Bunnies. There were six models, and each had layers of clothing on: The first layer would be a raincoat, under it would be another raincoat, under that would be a dress, and under that a bustier. Every piece was so intricate that you couldn't really tell what it was, but you knew you were looking at something special. When I went into the showroom, I saw that these white dresses and bustiers were made out of the collars and cuffs of men's white shirts—it was just magic. When somebody can put spirit into clothes like that and have them move, it's amazing. WORLDS COLLIDE There was a wonderful moment in Paris when our good friends the Labèque sisters played at Peter Copping's Nina Ricci fashion show. They are three people I love from different worlds—the sisters are concert pianists and Peter is a fashion designer. Josh and I were able to connect them, and they found this common moment. The combination of the fashion and the music felt incredible because it all worked beautifully together. All of us had the most amazing afternoon tea at Peter's house with him and his boyfriend, who just opened up a flower shop in the 6th arrondissement, Rambert Rigaud Fleuriste en Herbe. Every flower is gorgeous, and the colors are incredible: luxe, deep, and dark—really extraordinary arrangements. MA PHOTOGRAPHY BY GETTY IMAGES (UNDERCOVER, RICCI) OCEANIC ART The artist Kathy Taslitz is a Chicago native and a dear friend of mine, and she has just debuted an amazing new collection, Just Visiting. I've collected her pieces before, like her blackened-bronze candelabras, but these are totally different: massive fiberglass white and pink seashells that are interactive, so they have video, light, and sound coming from them—she actually went to the ocean and recorded waves on different days. She's working in a medium that is unheard of, and the pieces retail for $90,000 and up. It's a huge deal. TOP: The clothes at the Undercover fashion show were made of men's shirt cuffs and collars.
