BY DAVE BERNS PHOTOGRAPHY BY CHRISTOPHER DEVARGAS Caption will go here tk. T hree years into Bob Millers storied 10-year run as Nevada governor, Vegas felt the aftershocks of nearby LAs engulfment in riots after the Rodney King verdict rocked the nation. The atmosphere in the country was highly charged, Miller writes in his new book, Son of a Gambling Man. The day after the verdicts, hundreds of people took to the streets of the Westside, some in a peaceful demonstration to express their outrage at the verdicts, but others bent on violence, firing weapons or tossing rocks at police and firefighters, businesses, and passing motorists.
