FROM THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF I welcomed the Strips newest headliner, Coco Austin, of E!s hit reality show Ice Loves Coco, to Vegas over dinner before she took the stage for her 9:30 PM performance of Peepshow. After Fox5 MOREs glamorous cohosts Rachel Smith and Sean McAllister finished their all-day reporting duties for New Years Eve, they joined me for Champagne at the Cosmopolitans Red Hot Chili Peppers concert. ABOVE: On New Years Eve, before the chaos around midnight, I caught up with Cosmopolitans gorgeous VP of public relations. LEFT: Vegas magazine reporter John Katsilometes interviewed the man behind the world-famous Bellagio Conservatory for this issues On the Town story in our newly beefed-up food and dining section. Puppy dog eyed funnyman Steve Carell is turning his roasting chops on Vegas. From the spray tans and over-the-top costumes to the dramatic stage effects, his new movie, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, attacks everything we hold sacred. So the question is: Can we take the heat? Any hurt feelings should be assuaged by the movies details. Carell, our spring cover star, shares the screen with heavy hitters Jim Carrey, Steve Buscemi, James Gandolfini, and Alan Arkin. And if David Copperfield, who consulted on the film and has an awesome cameo, can take the joke, Im in, too. If I dont see you at movie night, there are so many other events around town this spring. Theres no way Ill miss seeing entertainer CeeLo Green in his new show at Planet Hollywood, Loberace, or painter Casey Weldons fanciful exhibit at Trifecta Gallery. On the philanthropy circuit, I hope to see all of you at Cirque du Soleils groundbreaking One Night for One Drop on March 22, with proceeds going to One Drop, which brings clean water to those who need it. Follow me on Twitter at Some of the money from this local perfor@abbytegnelia and on mance (involving all seven Cirque shows!) vegasmagazine.com. will stay local, going to the Springs Preserves water conservation program. And finally, Keep Memory Alives annual Power of Love gala once again promises to be a contender for party of the year, when we kick up our heels April 13 to raise money for the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. For the insider info on all of these happenings, simply turn the page. Happy reading, ABBY TEGNELIA 22 PHOTOGRAPHY BY ISAAC BREKKEN (KATSILOMETES) I guess it was just a matter of time: VEGASMAGAZINE.COM 022_V_FOB_EdLetter_Spring13.indd 22 2/11/13 12:24 PM
